Senior Bookkeeper

The Senior Bookkeeper performs all bookkeeping duties and is accountable for the following:

  • Must be strong at Setting-Up Quick Book files and able to set up systems that will suit the needs of our business.
  • Maintaining a high level of confidentiality in all interactions.
  • Maintaining a professional image and demeanor with customers, company employees and/or subcontractors.
  • Reviewing and preparing taxes and year-end bookkeeping files for our accounting firm.
  • Daily, weekly, and monthly reviews and analyzing financial data.
  • Preparation of daily, weekly, and monthly financial reports.
  • Job costing and inventory control.
  • Keeping record of income and expenses.
  • Experience with QB and other accounting software, payroll, inventory, etc.
  • Biweekly Payroll for employees and sub-trades.
  • Bank reconciliations.
  • A/R and A/P postings.
  • Transaction analysis.
  • Credit card reconciliations.
  • Data entries.
  • Keeping account book and other financial records updated.
  • Paperwork filing and other administrative tasks as required.
  • Inputting invoices into accounting program.
  • Submitting new vendor codes.
  • Receiving/copying/filing/mailing cheques, etc.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Advanced computer skills (Quick Books 2015 Pro, Excel, and Word)
  • Strong analytical skills; detailed and deadline oriented
  • High degree of organizational skills
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Solid Knowledge Q-Books 2015 Pro
  • Bank and Visa Reconciliations
  • Payroll, T4, Record Of Employment, etc.
  • CRA remittances
  • Preparing Year End for accounting firm

Experience working in start-ups would definitely be an asset, as you will already have experience working in a lean organization, wearing many different hats, and going that extra mile to get the job done.

Additional Requirements:

  • Must have Post Secondary Education - Business Education, Accounting or Bookkeeping diploma an asset.
  • Minimum 2-3 year bookkeeping experience required
  • Proficient use of various office based software including Microsoft Word, Excel and QuickBooks.
