A day in the life of a Guest Service Agent...

As a receptionist at the company I am the face of the Hotel and a key person who can shape the overall “guest experience”, providing a friendly, welcome and high quality service to guests, arriving from near and far and making them feel special. I am a highly professional image of the hotel that pays particular attention to guest satisfaction offering detailed and efficient service.

It is my job to be courteous, polite and well spoken who has a passion for providing the highest standards of hospitality. Going the extra mile is important to me to ensure guest satisfaction and being personally recognized makes me feel motivated to deliver an exceptional and indigenous service.

I work within a team of ambassadors that include other Receptionists, Duty Managers, Guest Service center and Shift leaders alongside the Concierge and Housekeeping Department. Being part of a team it is important that we encourage team spirit, absorbing new ideas, communicating clearly between each department and finding suitable solutions to meet and provide guest expectations.

In the day of a receptionist it’s not only about checking in and checking out a guest, but creating an exceptional rapport with guests and ambassadors. It is expected of me to have the knowledge and understanding of the business needs and requirements. Working in a hotel which has guests from all over the World and a mix of diverse cultures and religions, it is essential that we not only have an understanding of the local area and events, but to be able to have a positive response and flex our style accordingly to our brand standards and guest requests.

Being a receptionist it is my job to ensure guests have a lasting experience that will make them return and also recommend my property to others, offering them to belong to our Starwood Loyalty program, with the tailor made benefits provided for our different membership categories.

In The company it is vital to cover a day worth of shifts. This means that I could work an early, middle, a late, or a night shift, each consisting of eight hours, but being flexible and assisting the team as required. I love working as part of a team that reaches across diverse borders and lines, and looks for ways to ensure each guests expectations are met.
