Senior Mechanical Engineer - Work in UK

Key responsibilities:

Design leadership of projects and managing multi-disciplinary teams;
Technical leadership of mechanical design and providing technical guidance and mentoring to junior members of the team;
Physical systems performance testing (temperature and airflow measurement);
Cooling technologies, plant detailed design and energy optimisation;
Developing and encouraging sustainable building design on projects;
Holding seminars and presentations to clients and industry events in order to develop and win new business;
Maintaining a wide array of professional relationships in the industry (clients, suppliers, competitors, etc).
You will be part of the Group that focuses on transportation buildings. Initial work will be on the development of the design for a new station, where Arup are the lead consultant. The role will involve leading design activities and liaison with engineers from multiple disciplines across Arup.
 

Skills and Capabilities

Essential:

Degree qualified in Mechanical or Building Services Engineering, and must have achieved Chartered status through either IMechE or CIBSE.
Proven design experience across a varied portfolio of medium to large scale projects;
Experience of designing mechanical systems within railway environments;
Solid experience in undertaking design of HVAC systems;
Knowledge of current regulations and best practice design;
Ability to think outside your specialism and integrate multi-disciplinary requirements into holistic co-ordinated solutions;
Experience of working in multi-disciplinary teams;
Able to understand the balance of engineering priorities on differing projects;
Able to quickly develop successful client relationships;
Excellent people management skills and experience of coordinating teams;
Ability to work under pressure and meet strict deadlines;
Excellent planning and organisational skills;
Excellent communications skills (both written and verbal);
Able to demonstrate commercial acumen;
Highly motivated and willing to take on new challenges;
Possess an understanding of the regulatory requirements of the railway sector.
Possess an excellent working knowledge of current mechanical engineering regulations, such as Part L and Buildings Regulations.
