Junior Sous Chef

About the role

An exciting role has arisen for a Junior Sous Chef in our speciality Restaurant. The main purpose of this position is to assist the Sous Chef in order to ensure that the kitchen operation runs as smoothly as possible.

Your key duties will include:

  • Assisting in the supervision of all colleagues engaged in the kitchen.
  • Attending meetings daily operational meetings
  • Assisting the Sous Chef in planning menus and recipes
  • Writing specific and accurate product specifications and standard recipes
  • Inspect daily, all fresh food received to ensure the quality is maintained.
  • Identify market needs and trends in terms of food for both hotel guests and the local market..
  • Develop menus, buffet (where applicable) and "specials".
  • Check on a daily basis food preparation, individual costs, quality, quantity inventories and portion control
  • During service periods, to personally run the hot plate and assist when needed and to ensure that the presentation as well as the quality of the food in accordance with the established standards.

About You

In order to be considered for this role, you will have completed an internationally recognised Kitchen Apprenticeship or possess a formal culinary quailfication You will also possess at least 5 years experience in an international five star chain employed as a Chef de Partie or be currently employed as a Junior Sous Chef seeking a new challenge. 

You will also be a team player with leadership and coaching skills. You will be comfortable taking responsibility for your decisons as well as possessing a team playing "hands on" attitude.

You will have good written and verbal English skills as well the ability to use Microsoft IT packages.
