Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to, the following:
Partner with managers in Research and Early Development with preparation of quarterly forecasts and annual operating budgets.
Take on primary ownership of the Phase I early development portfolio. Work with clinical operations and project leadership groups to develop study budgets, analysis of actual clinical study spend, calculation of appropriate clinical study accruals in accordance with GAAP and the regular forecasting of clinical study spending.
Work with Associate Director of FP&A on strategic analysis and long term planning to help senior R&ED management make key decisions.
Provide financial support for the San Diego site, the largest drug discovery center for Celgene
Prepare and distribute monthly departmental expense reports and provide department managers with analysis and explanations of key variances.
As part of monthly general ledger closing, prepare journal entries for required accruals, reclassifications or other adjustments resulting from review of operations. Work closely with the Finance Shared Service Center to ensure complete and accurate accounting and timely closings.
Assist with preparation of financial data included in monthly presentations and reports for Senior Management.
Ensure integrity of financial data by regularly reviewing and reconciling data shared between key financial applications used within the function.
Ad-hoc projects as required

Qualifications
Skills/Knowledge Required:
5-10 years previous experience within Accounting/Finance function with at least 2 years in financial analysis role.
Excellent skills and proficiency with Microsoft Office products e.g. Excel and PowerPoint and experience with integrated accounting software. Knowledge of business intelligence software e.g. Business Objects, OBIEE, and Hyperion a plus.
Ability to identify existing or potential deficiencies in operating processes or procedures and proactively recommend
solutions.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to interact with all levels of management
