OBJECTIVES:

The Research Associate II will work within the Target Validation team and provide support in CNS research. The Research Associate II will support pharmacological and target validation experiments in animal models of CNS disorders. This position will work very closely with our team of scientists to validate and identify new targets for CNS indications. The position represents an excellent opportunity to further basic laboratory and research skills in a highly dynamic group. ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Conducts immunohistochemical experiments to validate expression of newly identified drug targets
  • Delivers quantitative results with speed and accuracy to support departmental objectives
  • Exemplifies the highest scientific rigor and standards.
  • Proposes designs and executes immunohistochemical studies to support programs.
  • Works and communicates effectively with colleagues of differing backgrounds and experience levels
  • Provides analysis and interpretation of data; writes study reports and presents data effectively in all settings and with participants of all levels of the organization.

Qualifications

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:

  • BS/BA in a relevant field of biology or equivalent field and at least 2 years of experience in drug discovery, particularly pharmacodynamic studies in animal models of disease or MS/MA in a relevant field of biology with relevant experience
  • Experience in histological techniques and familiarity with neuropharmacology and CNS biology
  • Skilled in statistical analysis, graphing programs, PowerPoint presentations and Excel
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and possess the ability to work independently as well as part of a team
  • Ability to design and interpret experiments collaboratively and independently
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities to achieve desired goals
  • Excellent attention to detail

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Manual dexterity required to operate office equipment (i.e., computers, phones, etc.).
  • Carrying, handling and reaching for objects up to 25 lbs.
  • Able to work in a lab environment

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Willingness to travel to various meetings, including overnight trips. Some international travel may be required.
