WOUND CARE SPECIALIST/NURSE

We are seeking a Wound Care Specialist/Nurse. Every employee will also be expected to raise the bar of the skilled nursing and assisted living experience by making every moment of our guests’ stays into a meaningful and comforting care experience like no other. This location is scheduled to open in August 2015.

JOB SUMMARY:

The WOC Nurse utilizes the nursing process to evaluate, direct and deliver comprehensive nursing care to patients with wound, ostomy and continence needs in a safe and proficient manner and develops an individual patient treatment plan. Develops individualized teaching plans for patients and nursing staff as needed. Directs and guides staff in provision of care of patients who fall into therapist area of expertise. This position collaborates with all health care professionals to optimize patient outcomes. May advise patients on health maintenance and disease prevention or provide case management.

Provides patient care, treatment, and services within the scope of their license, certification, registration, and/or assessed competencies. Practice will be in accordance with laws and regulations and will adhere to established policies, procedures and practice guidelines.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Treating skin reactions
  2. Preventing skin breakdown
  3. Treating and managing vascular ulcers, pressure ulcers and diabetic ulcers
  4. Initiating preventative measures
  5. Providing comprehensive wound management, including reducing causative factors, controlling odor, assessing nutritional needs, and providing and applying topical therapies
  6. Educating the patient, the patient’s family, and any other support persons on care techniques
  7. Assessing and treating draining wounds and fistulae
  8. Designing pouch systems for draining wounds and fistulae
  9. Implementing preventative actions to reduce the incidences of pressure ulcers and vascular ulcers
  10. Providing instruction on proper wound dressing
  11. Educating the patient, the patient’s family, and other support persons on ulcer prevention and treatment
  12. Performs other duties as assigned to meet the goals and objectives of The Healthcare Resort of Kansas.

About the Opportunity

The Director will provide leadership in development and implementation of a resort wide recreation program. Responsibilities include recruiting, training and development of staff; budgeting, forecasting and controlling expenses; researching new activities and events to provide a wide variety of options for our guests; ensuring that events/activities are well-supervised, safe and performed in a secure environment consistent with policies and regulations. Required Experience

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Education, Experience and Licensure Required:

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited school
  • Registered Nurse (RN)/ Current KS Licensure.
  • Minimum 2 years wound care experience
  • CWON required
  • CWOCN preferred from WOCNB Accreditation
  • BLS certification through the American Heart Association required
