M3 Mechanic - Full-time

EDUCATION 
Any combination of education and experience equivalent to graduation from high school or any other combination of education, training or experience of at least 5 years that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities necessary to perform the duties of the position. Trade school education or apprenticeship program desired. 

EXPERIENCE 
Minimum of 2 years experience as a general maintenance or boiler mechanic required. 

LICENSES OR CERTIFICATES 
Hawaii Driver's License required. CPR certification and/or First Aid training preferred. 

GROOMING 
All team members must maintain a neat, clean and well-groomed appearance (specific standards available). 

SPECIFIC JOB KNOWLEDGE, SKILL AND ABILITY 
The individual must possess the following knowledge, skills and abilities and be able to explain and demonstrate that he or she can perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation.

  • Knowledge of building mechanical systems such as water distribution, steam supply, pressure reducing stations, boiler operation and plumbing and electrical systems.
  • Basic knowledge of skilled trade activities in carpentry, masonry, air conditioning and refrigeration, painting and wall covering, electronics and mechanical work.
  • Knowledge of OSHA safety procedures and regulations.
  • Knowledge of utility and sewer systems associated with hotel operations.
  • Knowledge of local building codes.
  • Skill in use of hand and power tools, including pressure gauges, leak detectors, and instruments for measuring air and water flow.
  • Ability to operate a forklift, electric cart, electric lift and pick-up truck.
  • Basic English language communication skills in order to complete logs, read blueprints and mechanical drawings, communicate with co-workers and fully comprehend job assignments.
  • Basic trade mathematical skills in order to calculate quantities of materials, areas covered, layout plans and prepare moderately complex mathematical calculations using a calculator.
  • Ability to climb ladders, occasionally working at heights above 30 feet.
  • Ability to effectively deal with internal and external customers, some of whom will require patience, tact and diplomacy to defuse anger, collect accurate information, solve customer concerns.
  • Ability to move and work throughout the hotel, both indoors and outdoors, for the duration of the shift.
  • Ability to work in confined spaces, which can occasionally be noisy and wet.
  • Ability to work under extreme temperature ranges.
  • Sufficient manual dexterity of hand manipulate switches, operate fine hand tools, and adjust and maintain equipment.
  • Ability to use equipment and machinery and manipulate materials in various ways such as cutting, sawing, grinding, sanding, gripping, soldering and securing materials together.
