Country Manager will have overall responsibility for safety (construction and office) and operations security assurance across Atkins multi-divisional and Global entity (F+G and Energy) activities.
Responsibilities:
The QSSE Safety and Security Country Manager will have the following responsibilities:
- Maintain oversight of all construction activities, managing site visits within their country of operation;
- Act as a focal point and subject matter expert for all health and safety related matters within the country they operate (office safety, driving, AOS, etc.);
- Undertake regular HSE inspections and audits on construction projects to measure the contractors performance and compliance with Atkins Minimum Requirements for Construction Safety (AMR);
- Provide assurance that company procedures and requirements for construction health and safety are being fully complied with on all projects;
- Ensure that monthly reporting is carried out in accordance with Atkins procedures, acting as a focal point to collate information for various division and business unit reports;
- Provide assistance where required with tenders and submissions to provide specialist advice on the technical aspects of proposals;
- Support project teams with any challenges or issues faced with HSE compliance on site;
- Undertake thorough internal investigations in the event of serious accidents or high potential incidents;
- Maintain a close working relationship with HSE managers and Directors within key client organisations;
- Undertake HSE training on site as and when required;
- Work closely with operational management within Atkins to promote core QSSE values and act as a champion for See it, stop it, save a life;
- Work closely with security coordinators in medium risk rated countries, providing support and effectively communicating in the event of security incidents or to disseminate information;
- Working closely with regulatory authorities such as the various municipalities and ministries developing a close working relationship and promoting Atkins as HSE leaders in their field;
- Meeting contractors senior/executive management to promote HSE and encourage improvement in performance on site;
- Assisting in the recruitment process of HSE staff within company as required; and
- Mentoring and assisting in the development of HSE staff within company.
Requirements
- Candidate should have at least 10 years experience in construction health and safety
- Should be qualified to a degree level, or equivalent, having chartered membership of IOSH or similar.
- Candidates should possess strong technical skills in construction safety and be excellent communicators at all levels

- External engagements will include high level negotiation and issue resolution with client and other stakeholder entities, technical authority public speaking engagements and membership of /attendance at strategic working groups.
