General Description
The primary responsibility of a Massage Therapist is to massage their clients to relieve discomfort and to ease muscle tension. A massage therapist has many responsibilities:
1. Arrange workstation, treatment room, and/or drapes to ensure guest comfort and safety
2. Before the massage begins, the therapist should confer with clients and learn their medical history and what problems they may have with stress or pain. This helps to determine what type of massage would be the most beneficial.
3. The massage therapist must assess the condition of the client’s soft tissues, the joint function and quality, range of motion, and muscle strength.
4. Develop and propose client treatment plans that specify which types of massage are to be used.
5. When the client’s needs have been established, the massage therapist massages the soft tissues and muscles to provide the treatment that has been determined.
6. The therapist prepares and blends massage oils and applies them during the massage.
7. Provide clients with guidance and information about techniques for postural improvement, A professional massage therapist should educate clients on how to improve their posture and teach them strengthening, stretching, relaxation and rehabilitative exercises
Duties & Responsibilities
Supportive Functions
1. Maintain treatment records
2. Ensure that daily sales figures are accurately recorded
3. Be aware of all treatments offered and any promotions on offer at any given time
4. Inform guests of all other services available at the Health Club
5. Cover reception as and when required
6. Perform any other duties deemed reasonable by management
Massage Therapist Training & Education Requirements
Requirements for massage therapy training and the standards can vary. However, a high school diploma or its equivalent is always required. Moreover, the massage therapist must have a diploma or equivalent in Health Education and a professional massage therapist license.
Requirements
Must have a diploma or equivalent in Health Education and a professional massage therapist license.
At least 1-2 years experience as a Massage Therapist.
Knowledge in Aromatheraphy, Swedish, THai Massage, Reflexology
