Responsibilities:
The Senior Linguist/Analyst will be responsible for the following:
- Processing material or participating in situations requiring advanced capability to perform translation, transcription, and interpretation.
- Translating a wide variety of complex texts containing difficult, idiomatic, scientific, and colloquial writing, capturing subtleties, nuance, tone, and register.
- Producing text reflecting specific culture to analysis to argumentation, capturing socio-cultural elements in text.
- Identifying and accurately summarizing pertinent factual information and abstract concepts, recognizing complex expressions such as colloquial text or technical terminology.
- Triaging documents to isolate essential information.
- Interpreting all levels of speech with a very high degree of accuracy.
- Reviewing audio material and transcribing information from target language into English with a high degree of accuracy.
- Reviewing another linguist's work for accuracy and quality of written expression.
- Producing reports, memos, correspondence or audio on formal or specialized scientific or technical topics.
Qualifications & Clearance Requirements:
Education, Work Experience, Skills and Clearance Requirements include:
- High School degree or GED equivalent and at least five years of work experience.
- Near native proficiency in reading, writing, and speaking.
- Ability to convey almost all subtleties, nuances, and expressions specific to a culture.
- Ability to effectively interpret mode and register.
- Excellent command of speech and comprehension in one or more dialects.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong MS Office experience.
- Active Top Secret security clearance verifiable in JPAS.
- At least four years of ILR Testing experience for translation or interpretation on interagency language roundtable.
Preferred:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree.
