Summary of Responsibilities:
- Maintain thorough knowledge of all fitness services, protocols and procedures.
- Maintain cleanliness of all equipment, common areas, and service areas.
- Bus and stock all service area items including towels, water, clean headsets and other items as required.
- Maintain smooth operation of all equipment through periodic service checks, lubing and reporting work orders promptly.
- Maintains thorough knowledge of all strength and cardio equipment and their programs as well as the proper use, alignment, safety and contraindications.
- Maintain current CPR, and First Aid certifications.
- Maintain professional certifications while continually pursuing a greater degree of knowledge and expertise through self-study, in-services offered, program development and other continuing education efforts.
- Administer fitness-wellness evaluations as set forth by the Recreation Manager.
- Lead fitness exercise sessions, personal training sessions, group training experiences, and in-service education sessions.
- To notify Loss Prevention of any accidents that may arise.
- To report any equipment that is in need of repair.
- To ensure all necessary checklists, logbooks and reports are being completed as necessary by the Fitness Instructor.
- To update the duty roster for the Fitness Instructors on a weekly basis.
- To supervise the Fitness Instructor and ensure they are following the set standard procedures, and to report any misconduct to the Recreation Manager.
- To successfully and positively perform within work team dynamics.
- Adherence to the resort expectations encompassing communication, working relations, job reliability and initiative, safety, accomplishment of work.
- To answer inquiries pertaining to the use of any equipment.
- Perform on-job training to Fitness Instructors for knowledge, growth and development of skills, by following the monthly department training calendar, and recording any training completed to track training hours.
- Ensure all Fitness levels of colleagues working in the Fitness Centre are of a high level as required by organizing regular fitness test sessions to monitor fitness.
- Drive revenue through selling of fitness retail items, as well as cross-sell any other resort activity where an opportunity arises.
- Maintains stock of fitness retail items required through monthly inventory and ordering new stock when needed.
- Items belonging to residents which may have been misplaced need to be handed in to ‘Lost and Found at Housekeeping (for non-valuable items) and Loss Prevention (for valuable items) as part of hotel policy.
- Attends weekly/monthly facility operations departmental communications meeting
- Understands and adheres to departmental and resort emergency procedures and safety practices
- Contributes to maintaining positive relationships within the Recreation department and other departments the resort.

QUALIFICATIONS
• Personal Trainer Certification through a nationally recognized certifying agency / organization (NSCA, ACSM, ACE, AFAA, ISSA).
• Certification in CPR and First Aid. Automatic Defibrillator trained is preferred.
EXPERIENCE
· • Minimum 2 year experience in fitness/wellness fields.
· • Experience instructing and leading exercise in an adult fitness setting, using proper form and spotting techniques.
· • Experience in administering PAR-Q, health risk and history, fitness assessments, and client consultation.
