- The Secretary/Transcriptionist is responsible for performing clerical duties for the department and for transcribing medical dictations using dictation and word processing systems as needed. Dictations include all Radiology reports. Some duties include answering telephone calls, scheduling appointments for Imaging studies, placing reminder calls to patients the day prior to their appointment, printing schedules for all Imaging modalities, entering orders for Imaging studies, rescheduling appointments when necessary, verifying patient information for accuracy and completeness. Also reviews and edits transcribed reports or dictated material for spelling, grammar, clarity, consistency and proper medical terminology. Sets up and maintains medical files, data bases and templates. Must be able to utilize the computer to schedule appointments, enter orders, etc.
High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training equivalent combination of education and experience. Computer knowledge and medical terminology required.
