Head of Consulting / COO - Real Estate and Hospitality Advisory Firm

The Head of Consulting will:
- Maintain a full appreciation of Company house standards, standards of practice and the administrative workings of the Company;
- Contribute to the institution and implementation of Company policies and procedures;
- Contribute to the creation of the Company business plan and to be responsible for the management of the operational aspects of the Company in order to deliver the specific aims and objectives;
- Take a lead role in the business development of the Company through assignment sales presentations, together with preparation and submittal of client responsive proposals to sell and quote for services and successfully close assignment tenders.
- Manage assignments and the consulting teams to ensure the accuracy of client work, and timely and efficient deliverables;
- Prepare and deliver industry related press articles and speeches in order to promote and maintain the profile of the Company within the hospitality and real estate industries;

CORE OBJECTIVES
Research
- Ensure that all consultants are fully trained to an appropriate level on internal and external sources of information
- Constantly monitor, sense check, verify and control the delivery of research material to consultants and clients by the Research Department
- Maintain research files and information systems in support of the business

Interpersonal
- Network effectively at all events attended and develop strong relationships with external contacts that could be of benefit to the Company (e.g. as a client, source of information, lead generator, collaborator)
- Manage, train, develop and guide consultant team to ensure Company standards are achieved and maintained
- Make effective presentations which will generate/consolidate business

Interpretation
- Review consultant evaluations to sense check the logic and reasonableness of the methodology and conclusions, to ensure that all factors have been fully considered, and to ensure the accuracy of the evaluation (including the correct use of models and research information)
- Provide guidance and/or opinion on evaluations and analytical arguments when appropriate;
- Maintain and/or ensure the necessary procedures

Writing
- Manage review of consultant written, mainly English language, deliverables in an accurate, efficient and timely manner (critical errors to address include: typos, grammar, mathematical errors)
- Provide guidance/opinion on written work when appropriate and to recover poorly prepared work

Administration
- Ensure that all administrative duties are fulfilled on assignments undertaken (eg issuing of proposals, invoices, debt recovery) in accordance with Company policies and procedures
- Attend scheduling meetings and manage specific areas of the business plan (identifying and providing solutions to relevant short comings)
- Undertake staff recruitment and appraisals, technical seminars, consultants briefings and training programmes

Practice development
- Consolidate and expand the client base through regular attendance of relevant industry events and effective networking
- Identify new opportunities, chase leads, quote for business, maintain discussions with potential sources of work and be instrumental in the successful closure of assignment tenders
- Promote awareness of our experience and expertise within the hospitality and real estate teams and cooperation therewith
- Lead and contribute to recruitment process, service portfolio development and company positioning

Leadership and development
- Manage consultants, research and the support area to ensure the smooth and efficient running of the business and to ensure customer satisfaction
- Develop the Companys industry profile (e.g. through speech making, press articles) to promote market awareness of the skills, knowledge and experience within the Company
- Progress to COO and CEO responsibility within a short period of time (months, not years)
- Mid-to long term progression to group level

Requirements

- Suitable Masters Degree (Hotels, Real Estate, MBA, or similar)

- Minimum 10 years of blue chip advisory experience to manager/director level
- 5-10 years relevant industry experience (hospitality / real estate to management level)
- Previous P&L responsibility
- Experience in building and running teams
- Demonstrated project track record
- Knowledge of MENA markets, established network in the region and internationally
- Entrepreneurial mindset, self starter, sense of full responsibility
- Strategic thinker, financially astute, all round experience with a high level of confidence
- Good structured thinker and planner
- Previous Director experience, demonstrated C-level rapport
- Business Development track record
- Incentivised success thinking
- Fluent written and spoken Business English
- Western educated and trained
- Pleasant and representative demeanour with gravitas, confidence and good presentation/rapport building skills with clients and team alike.
