The Role

The document controller collects, maintains and distributes all documents necessary. The successful candidate will need to maintain a well organised filing system and computer database for all documents to be retained in the document control centre in a timely manner. 

Key Responsibilities
- To manage the exploration databases and records management - maintain an up to date record of all data, reports, well logs, and seismic sections, CDs etc in both hard copy and digital format. File and maintain same in a tidy and accessible fashion. Maintain a supply of storage media as required.
- Database management: Manage the server database of technical and confidential information to maintain integrity of information and establish ease of use and good relationships with users of the database.
- To help obtain data from various sources (well, seismic, topographic etc). Obtain geological and geophysical data as requested. Liaise with the appropriate authorities and JV partners to ensure data is obtained in a timely and efficient fashion. Distribute data to partners as required.
- Maintain a record of data distributed to partners and other authorities.
- Supervise and manage digitising, copying and scanning of data as requested keep a record and ensure the relevant paperwork (justifications, MSRs and POs are completed)

Requirements

- Minimum Geology diploma or equivalent with 23 years working in a petroleum industry environment.
- Back ground in administration and management support and document control
- An understanding of basic oil and gas exploration and production operations
- Advanced computer literacy skills in various computer software applications
- Experience in spread-sheeting and database operation
- Technical background, some understanding and knowledge of petroleum geology and the oil and gas exploration industry, tertiary qualification, preferably in geology, geophysics, engineering, or in a relevant earth science discipline.
- Willing to adhere to safety requirements and commitment to a strong company HSE culture
- Able to work as part of a team, and ability to work effectively within a multi-disciplinary and multi-cultural team
- Self-motivated, able to work independently self-starting ability, monitoring progress towards deliverables and adjusting activities as needed to ensure timely completion of assigned tasks.
- Strong problem solving skills, finding work-around and managing tight deadlines
- Able to prepare accurate records and reports, good oral and written interpersonal skills to maintain effective working relationships and develop a solid understanding of the data being manipulated
- Highly competent use of personal computers and office applications including word processing, spreadsheets and databases,

The successful candidate must have a minimum of 2 years experience as Assistant Document Controller / Document Controller to make the shortlist.
