Our Group Coordinators are at the heart of our group operation and have a direct impact on the overall experience of our group travelers. As a our company expert, you'll help our group guests make the most of their cruise vacation by coordinating activities and arrangements for group meetings, conferences, and functions. In this highly visible role, you'll work with our department heads to plan function details such as space requirements, time schedule, food and beverage service, stage usage, sound, lighting, and video.
Career snapshot:
• Maintains desk hours throughout the cruise to meet with group representatives. Responsible for the scheduling of the Conference Center, Executive Boardroom, Multi-media room and the Business Services areas
• Consults with representatives of client group or organization to plan details such as number of persons expected, display space desired, food service schedule, etc
• Resolves conflicts quickly and efficiently and provides alternative arrangements as needed; calculates additional costs as needed
• Directs workers in preparing banquet and convention rooms, and erecting displays, exhibits, equipment, etc.
Qualifications
Requirements:
• Minimum 2 years event planning and execution experience in a luxury hotel, convention center, sales, public relations or in a related hospitality function
• Proven customer service skills to build and strengthen relationships
• Ability to up-sell and cross-sell products and services; perform basic math functions with regard to product and service pricing
• Keen attention to detail while coordinating multiple functions simultaneously
• Communicate tactfully with group representatives, department heads, and shipboard employees to resolve problems and negotiate solutions
• Ability to speak English clearly, distinctly, and cordially with guests
• Working knowledge of computers, e-mail, and business related software packages such as word processing and spreadsheet applications
• All international applicants must have the ability to obtain C1/D visa (and other relevant visas) when applicable
• Must meet all physical requirements, including the ability to participate in emergency life-saving drills and required training
Preferences:
• Bachelor’s degree in hospitality management, business administration or related field from an accredited college, university or the international equivalent preferred
• Customer service experience utilizing multi-languages in a hospitality industry preferred
• Additional language such as Spanish, German, French, Italian, Portuguese, Mandarin, Korean, or Japanese.
