The IT Systems Administrator troubleshoots problems on the network, monitors underlying communication protocols and supports server hardware and software. He/she maintains server connectivity and availability. He/she is responsible for analysing, system management, installation and support of computer operations related to Windows/Exchange Systems & other infrastructure common applications.
Key Activities
1. Install new / rebuild existing servers and configure hardware, peripherals, services, settings, directories, storage, etc. in accordance with standards and project/operational requirements.
2. Planning, testing, tuning, configuration and setup of Microsoft Exchange architecture as well as supporting common email applications (Outlook, BES, PDA based email).
3. Research and recommend innovative, and where possible, automated approaches for system administration tasks.
4. Identify approaches that leverage our resources and provide economies of scale.
5. Provide support of Windows Active Directory services, domain controller maintenance.
6. Creation, administration and operational support for Windows servers.
7. Provide common and advanced system administration functions for local and remote systems including user administration, automation, patch management, backup and restore, capacity/log monitoring, clustering and replication.
8. Install and maintain server class hardware. Hyper V setup, configuration and general management.
9. Prepare and execute systems maintenance plans to proactively manage reliability and service expectations. Responsible for auditing, upgrading, and managing OS’s on all production systems and components. Assist in the installation of new software releases, system upgrades, evaluation and installation of patches, and the resolution of software related problems on Windows systems.
10. Develop the necessary work instructions for all resolver disciplines (window, storage, Exchange, & backups) to support flydubai business.
11. Participate in audits, as needed, producing necessary documentation, reports and explanations. Assist with the definition and implementation of corrective measures aimed at correcting possible findings.
Minimum Qualification
• BSc or BA degree, Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent education, training or work experience
Experience
• 5 + years’ proven experience in Microsoft operating systems, Active Directory & Domain architecture, NTFS permissions, WINS, DNS, DHCP, OS security, Hyper V, MS Exchange
• 2 + years’ experience with MS Lync, Sharepoint.
• Familiarity with IT Security and Architecture reviews
• Familiarity with handling and mitigating attacks related to viruses, and malware
• Hands-on investigation and log analysis exposure
• Experience with IBM/HP/Huawei SAN storage systems
Knowledge / Skills
• Scripting skills - PERL, batch, shell and/or VB
• Excellent understanding of SMTP, HTTP, FTP, IMAP, POP
• Expertise in using various monitoring, management, and capacity planning tools
• Practical understanding of networking - routing, subnets, TCP Ports & VLANs
• Understanding in using various monitoring and management tools
