Vice President of Commercial Sales

The Vice President of Sales will be responsible for growing and leading a robust, agile, and motivated commercial sales team. This position requires outstanding problem-solving, analytical, solution development and communication skills; building strategic partnerships, experience defining, creating and winning technology solutions deals.. The VP of Sales will work cross-functionally across the organization and closely with the Executive team.

 

This leader will need to demonstrate a proven track record of success in technology solutions, professional services and software sales using a value-driven sales approach. Ideal candidates will possess strong sales leadership experience, having sold software solutions to commercial and enterprise companies at the Director, VP and C level. Candidates must be sales practitioners and have significant and relevant experience in the following areas: prospecting, territory alignment, account mapping, account penetration, sales motion creation, partnerships establshment and growth, close plans, negotiation, forecasting and ultimate delivery of the sales revenue target

 

You will own:

  • Support the growth of the commercial operations team: hire, develop, mentor and coach team members; develop best practice documentation and processes; and plan for the future by identifying and addressing bottlenecks, gaps, and risks

  • Structure and direct the entire sales process from account identification to close

  • Develop and Grow strategic partnerships 

  • Spearhead outside sales effort, from lead generation to close.

  • Bring new deals, contacts and opportunities for your personal network 

  • Accountable for the overall growth and execution of all sales initiatives and opportunities

  • Drive day-to-day activities of sales and marketing units

  • Run weekly, monthly and quarterly meetings to executive leadership on key metrics, providing sound analysis with recommended next steps to improve sales conversion.

  • Hit or exceed sales targets and accurately forecast business

  • Build and execute go to market strategy for various solutions 

  • Create and execute effective presentations, including corporate and solution capabilities, prospective client proposals, bid defense and business case/justification

  • Support business development efforts by attending industry conferences and events

  • Supporting direct reports by participating and leading in client and prospect meetings and engaging other corporate resources as required

  • Plan and execute marketing events in territory

  • Strong communications, organizational and strategic thinking skills

  • Run effective meetings and help create a culture of accountability

  • Work closely with professional services, delivery and solutions architecture teams to ensure expertise in our solutions and services 

  • Improve processes and increase efficiencies for the sales organization as well as for the sales operations group.

  • Drive the annual business planning process, setting and deploying quotas, and managing critical sales initiatives.

  • Manage forecasting process and be the single point of contact for status updates and reporting on forecasts and revenue plan to actual. Ensures availability and provision of relevant pipeline and forecast reports and dashboards to executive team.

  • Manage team to support field sales on pricing, deal structuring, and business terms to drive agreement closure, including end-to-end deal review process

Required Skills/Experience:

  • Strong track record of recruiting, developing and retaining a high performing sales organization

  • Proven relationships with key stakeholders in the commercial business segment

  • Consistent overachievement of quota and revenue goals

  • 8+ years in software and/or applications sales (ideally in a Service-Cloud, CRM, ERP and/or B2B SW company), selling primarily to the CxO level

  • Proven track record of building satisfied, loyal and reference able customers

  • C-suite level resources, aligned with Regional Vice President , Account Executives and internal leadership teams to present a single front internally and help represent a single vision for our customers

  • Proven success working within a highly matrixed organization and establishing strong relationships across all functions

  • Strong operational and analytical abilities

  • Strategic enterprise sales experience and revenue achievement selling multiple enterprise software offerings

  • Experience selling cloud-based enterprise applications is strongly preferred

  • Proven understanding of the technology industry as well as technology trends and emerging technologies; start up experience a plus

  • Extremely organized and able to work well in a fast-paced, collaborative environment

  • Outstanding communication, presentation and writing skills; PowerPoint/Keynote development skills a plus

  • Proven track record of building satisfied, loyal and referenceable customers

  • Proven track record of recruiting, training/developing and retaining high-performing sales talent

  • Ability to listen, think logically, strategically, and tactically to solve complex problems

  • Self-motivated, demonstrating an ability to assume responsibility and work autonomously

  • Successful track record of planning, executing and closing business from field events

  • Strong operational and analytical abilities
