Vice President of Technology

Sphere Software is looking for an entrepreneurial technology leader to help lead the growth and success of Sphere. The Vice President of Technology is responsible for driving the technology vision to support Sphere’s customer and company growth. He/She will be responsible for the pre-sales activities, defining architectural solutions and roadmaps for Sphere’s customers, and composing proposals and to provide senior technical advisory services (CTO level) to Sphere’s customers. In addition, the VP of Technology will be responsible for building repeatable software delivery packages that can be used across Sphere’s engagements and prospective customers.

Responsibilities:

  • Work with account and sales teams to manage the pre-sales process with clients and provide the technical leadership throughout the opportunity lifecycle from initial qualification to closure of the deal.

  • Develop proposals, presentations and strategies to grow Sphere’s services practices and customer engagements

  • Provide thought leadership & services delivery roadmap to customers.  

  • Lead technical strategic and operational planning to achieve business goals by fostering innovation, prioritizing technical initiatives that will drive Sphere’s sales pipeline.

  • Identify opportunities for appropriate and cost-effective investment in technical solutions

  • Hiring - Responsible for hiring and interviewing consultants, architects and managers for the company.

  • Culture & Core Values - Enhance the Company’s culture and exemplify our core values on a day-to-day basis.

  • Provide technical & architecture guidance for internal teams.

  • Provide senior (CTO) level advisory services to Sphere’s customers.

  • Act as an evangelist for services, assisting sales with selling and serving as an executive sponsor for our strategic customers.

  • Build repeatable software packages that can be used across engagements.

A successful candidate will have the following characteristics:

  • Proven ability to translate business requirements of clients, Marketing, Business Development and Operations to technology solutions.

  • Prior sales engineering or solution development experience in a software company and/or a software services company is a big plus.

  • Understand technical aspects of software architecture, design and development

  • Be fluent with data solutions, tools, cloud platforms (AWS, Azure and Google), software delivery life cycles, common conceptual solution architecture and risks.

  • Demonstrated success in project management across internal and external staff and in the integration of selected technology

  • Ability to establish a relationship with C-level and SVP level customer stakeholders.

  • Experience working withSoftware Development Life Cycle (SDLC), Agile methodologies (Scrum, Lean Startup, XP) and working with multi-functional teams (Product Owners, Scrum Masters, Developers, Designers, Data Analysts)

  • Familiarity and experience with Design Thinking, Behavior and Test-Driven Development

  • Ideal: Experience with information management / data practices and technologies including data lake, data warehousing, data integration patterns (ETL, services, messaging), and analytics.

  • Strong leadership, communication and collaboration skills with a track record of taking solution ownership.

  • Excellent Communication and Board Room skills

  • Ability to travel to meet with customers (estimated at 40%).
