Practice Leader - Data & Analytics

Sphere Software is looking for an entrepreneurial and progressive leader to lead the growth and success of the big data and analytics practice. The Practice Lead advises and partners with our sales teams and clients on solving their business problems by leveraging Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Data Analytics, Data Engineering and Data Science offerings and capabilities. This leader will work closely with the sales and marketing teams on sales campaigns, pre-sales activities and increasing the opportunities at existing accounts. Further, this leader will work with the delivery teams to ensure delivery excellence and customer success, while partnering with customers to achieve growth through the implementation of tangible business results.

Responsibilities:

  • Leadership of the Data and Analytics Practice, including driving sales, recruiting, account management, consulting, and all operational aspects.

    • Practice Building and Scaling – Drive overall growth of practice area through a combination of business development, talent management, oversight of delivery work, and thought leadership. Build processes to scale the practice’ business, and collaborate with other company leaders to implement lessons learned to drive overall company growth.

    • Business Development – Lead business development activities, leveraging professional contacts for the benefit of the Company. Create service offerings aligned for market segments/verticals, including value positioning, scope of services, marketing collateral and pricing.

    • Team & Individual Development – Maximize team performance through an effective team approach that increases productivity and job satisfaction. Foster a culture of career growth and measurable goals for individual contributors and managers.

      • Establish a certification plan for practice consultants, architects and project managers.

    • Hiring - Responsible for hiring and interviewing consultants, architects and managers for the practice.

    • Engagement Management – Manage engagement risk and project economics including planning and budgeting, manage account billings, define deliverable content, and ensure buy-in of proposed solutions from top management levels at the client.

  • Culture & Core Values - Enhance the Company’s culture and exemplify our core values on a day-to-day basis.

  • Develop proposals, presentations, statements of work (SOWs) and proactively recommend strategies to grow the Big Data and Analytics Practice presence in existing and new accounts

  • Work with account and sales teams to manage the pre-sales process with clients and provide the leadership throughout the opportunity lifecycle from initial qualification to closure of the deal.

  • Provide thought leadership & services delivery roadmap to customers.  

  • Provide technical & architecture guidance, for both internal teams and customers, focusing on big data, analytics and machine learning.

  • Execute short term and strategic consulting projects, assessments. Map solutions to client business processes, and develop value proposition and business case.

  • Act as an evangelist for services, assisting sales with selling and serving as an executive sponsor for our strategic customers.

  • Develop and manage the partner strategy and ecosystem in partnership with our Channel team to maintain a global network of certified partners that deliver with consistent quality Requirements.

A successful candidate will have the following characteristics:

  • Proven experience leading and scaling professional services organizations or practices in fast paced environments, including managing the organization financials (bookings, billings, utilization and margin).

  • Prior management consulting and data and analytics industry experience.

  • Be fluent with data solutions, tools, cloud platforms (and their individual technologies), delivery life cycles, common conceptual solution architecture and risks.

  • Deep understanding and experience in the big data, analytics and data engineering space (Hadoop, Spark, AWS, Google Cloud, Azure, Python, Scala, R, Tensorflow, ETL tools, etc.). 

  • Experience with information management / data practices and technologies including data lake, data warehousing, data integration patterns (ETL, services, messaging), and analytics.

  • Excellent Communication and Board Room skills

  • Ability to establish a relationship with C-level and SVP level customer stakeholders.

  • Experience working withSoftware Development Life Cycle (SDLC), Agile methodologies (Scrum, Lean Startup, XP) and working with multi-functional teams (Product Owners, Scrum Masters, Developers, Designers, Data Analysts)

  • Ideally familiar with Design Thinking, Behavior and Test-Driven Development

  • Strong leadership, communication and collaboration skills with a track record of taking solution ownership.

  • Ability to travel to meet with customers (estimated at 40%).

  • Preferred: PMP, CSM or PSM certifications.
